14:32 eat them with the blood. Because of Saul’s foolish oath (I Samuel 14:24), the fighting men were faint with hunger by the time the Philistines were routed, causing them to eat of the captured cattle without taking the time to drain the blood. This was contrary to God’s law (Leviticus 17:10). When Saul learned this, he set up a slaughter table, where the blood could be properly drained, and commanded the men to slay and eat the animals there.
